How we verify talent before they reach your inbox

A badge only means something if people know what earned it. Here is what happens between someone signing up and the word Verified appearing next to their name.
Identity
We confirm that the person is who they say they are using a government ID and a short live check. This takes about two minutes. We store the result, not the document.
Finished work
Talent submit three pieces of shipped work, not concepts or mockups. A reviewer on our team confirms the work is theirs by asking about decisions inside it: what changed between the first draft and the final, and why. Most people answer in a few sentences. If the answers do not match the work, we say no and explain why.
One reference
Each applicant names someone who paid them for a project. We email that person two questions: did the work arrive when promised, and would you hire them again. We do not publish the answers. They only decide whether the profile goes live.
About four in ten applicants pass on the first try. The rest can reapply after adding work or a reference. Hirers see the date a profile was verified, and we re-check any profile that receives a dispute.
